INTRODUCTION
The student needs to play a single
track by an artist by using MP3 player or Apple iPod Nano as the gadget. The
students choose the MP3 player as their gadget. They must show the step how to
use the MP3 player from switch on until switch off the gadget. They also
required evaluating the usability of the gadget by using Ben Schneiderman’s 8
golden rules of interface design as guidelines.
PRINT

Press the right button OPTION to
switch on the MP3 Player
STEP 2:
To hear the song, the users need to
plug in the earphones or headphones.
Choose the music symbol by press the
PLAY button
STEP 4:
The list of songs will appears when user press
PLAY button ones.
STEP 5:
The user can select the song that they
want to listen by press the UP and DOWN botton.
STEP 6:
When the user want to play the song
selected, they just need to press the PLAY button.
The user can adjust the sound volume
by using the volume adjustment button provided.
STEP 8:
Press the ( + )symbol button to volume
up the MP3 player sound and press ( - ) symbol button to volume down the MP3
player sound based on the user like.
STEP 9:
If the users do not want to listen the
song, they must plug out the ear phone and head phone first.
After plug out the ear phone and head
phone, press the OPTION button for a few second to switch off the MP3 player.

This gadget use consistent sequences of actions should be required in
similar situations and use a familiar icon and symbol to navigate the user.

The interface of this gadget is too simple and this gadget not provides any short cut command. So, the expert user will feel comfortable to use this gadget. Novice user also can use this gadget easily if they understand the icons and the symbols provided.

The MP3 player informed their user by using visual approach such as when the user press the button volume up the visual of the volume range will appear on screen.

4 Design

When the user switch on the gadget, the home screen of the gadget will appear which means that the user can use the gadget. If the battery weak the signal of text will appear that inform the user to recharge a battery. The image below will appear when the user switches off the gadget.

5 Offer
simple error handling.
This gadget not provides any error handling because it will provide a signal only when the song file unsupported and the battery is empty.

The back button is
provided at this gadget interface that allows the user’s to go the previous
action or screen.
The user can handle
this gadget with their own needs because the attire song tracks are stored
inside the SD card. So, the
user can manage what kind of song they want and do not want to listen.
8 Reduce
short-term memory load.
The using of the icons and symbols in this gadget help the user to use the gadget easily without need to read the instruction. It is because the gadget us the simple and familiar icons and symbol that recently used for gadget interface.

REFLECTION
The student learnt how to use the MP3
player and know what kind of the characteristics of the good interface for
gadget. The student also enable to tell the others user the step to use the MP3
player clearly by using screen shot image and the text of instruction.
CONCLUSION
The MP3 player interface is a good
interface based on the Ben Schneiderman’s 8 Golden Rules of Interface Design
Guidelines. It is because it us a simple interface design that convenient to
every range of user target.
